The Northeast Business Group on Health (NEBGH) has released vital new resources for employers: “Supporting Employees with Cancer.” This resource empowers employers to better support employees impacted by cancer—whether they are patients or caregivers—by turning challenges into opportunities for meaningful action. The resources are free and available for download.
With nearly 40% of Americans expected to receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, the workplace plays a critical role in how people access care, manage stress, and maintain stability during treatment and recovery.
“Cancer touches every organization—regardless of size or industry,” said Kim Thiboldeaux, CEO of Northeast Business Group on Health. “For over two decades, I’ve worked with cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and employers. I’ve seen firsthand the difference a supportive workplace can make. These resources give employers the tools to show up in meaningful ways—with empathy, resources, and practical action. Together, we can reduce suffering and improve outcomes for millions of people who bring their whole selves to work, even in the midst of cancer.”
Dr. Mark Cunningham-Hill, NEBGH’s Medical Director, emphasized the urgency of employer involvement: “Cancer is one of the most complex and costly conditions affecting today’s workforce. With advances in screening, early detection, and treatment, employers have more tools than ever before to support employees facing a cancer diagnosis.”
Key features include:
- Curated list of national nonprofit cancer organizations
- Support resources for emotional, financial, and treatment navigation
- Clear, easy-to-understand glossary of common cancer-related terms
- Fact sheets on cancer screening and early detection, cancer treatment advances, and biomarker testing
- Podcast episodes highlighting critical insights in cancer care, featuring expert discussions on workplace support and advocacy
These are free and available online: Click here
NEBGH gratefully acknowledges the generous support of Pfizer, Sanofi, Grail, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and Johnson & Johnson, whose partnership made this project possible.
This release is part of NEBGH’s broader mission to equip employers with the tools and knowledge to promote health equity, preventive care, and employee wellbeing across the workplace.
