Give us a brief overview of your background and what brought you to NEBGH?
Prior to working with NEBGH I spent 10+ years working with a PR consulting firm. I’m also a classically trained singer and I continue to perform at a professional level to this day. What brought me to NEBGH is the mission – empowering employers to achieve the highest value in healthcare delivery for their employees – and of course, the wonderful team!
What is your favorite part of working at NEBGH, so far?
I’ve already mentioned the wonderful team! I love the deep sense of collaboration here at NEBGH. While we all have our areas of focus, we all pitch in to help the organization deliver the best possible experience for our members.
Where did you grow up and how did you get to NYC?
My road to the NYC metro area has certainly been a long one! I grew up in St. Louis, MO, then moved to Wellesley, MA for my undergraduate studies at Wellesley College, followed by Baltimore, MD to complete my graduate studies at The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, and finally to Jersey City, NJ, which I have called home for nearly nine years now.
What was your first job and did you learn an important lesson that you apply to your jobs today?
My first job was working as an usher at Opera Theatre of St. Louis. As a minimum wage job it definitely helped teach me the value of a dollar, and also that a little bit of courtesy and kindness can go a long way.
When you’re not working for NEBGH, what do you do in your spare time?
Singing! I perform mostly in choral/ensemble settings at a professional level, and occasionally as a soloist. I also love cooking, craft beer, and my cat, Susie!
Tell us about your favorite vacation spot and why?
That would have to be Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I love the people, the culture, the food, and the stunningly beautiful contrast between mountains and ocean.
